From the end of 2012, Yantai Salvage established diving project department for diving service in Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Island Tunnel Project, which undertook diving assignments such as the immersed tube cleaning, sludge cleaning, survey tower underwater cutting, outfit disassembling, foundation bed detecting, directional bracket installing, diving video recording, immersed tube butt joint checking, and etc.
FromMay 6th 2013, the first immersed tube E1 was joined to the hidden section in the west artificial island, to July 28th 2016, our diving project department had finished all the joining work of E1-E28.
Especially during the installation of E15, our diving department discovered serious potential safety hazard, and they reported to the headquarters of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge construction project, major safety accident and heavy economic losses were avoided. And they received high affirmation and commendation from the headquarters.
In October 2016, the first curved section immersed tube E33 was successfully installed, the undersea tunnel and the east artificial island were perfectly joined. 2015 was the toughest year of immersed tube installation, the operation area located in deep water and quirk, the diving department of Yantai Salvage struggled sparing no effort, completed the joining work of 10 tubes efficiently, and made “Chinese Speed” without any single mistake. The error of butt joint was kept in millimeter, they were highly praised by the general manager department of the island-tunnel project, and they rewarded a silk banner writing “Excellent divers, ironclad team, high quality, fine style.”
